Second Keeper of the Learning Circle
We welcome Diane Meredith to our work here at SSSC as Second Keeper of the Learning Circle. She joins Keeper of the Learning Circle Susie McPherson Derendy in the work of overseeing our Indigenous ministry training program. Diane’s extensive experience in global, national and local social justice work, especially with Indigenous communities will work well with Susie’s extensive Cree and intercultural community and circle work. Diane has her M.Div. from The United Church of Canada’s Emmanuel College in Toronto.
The Covid-19 pandemic interrupted Diane’s move to Manitoba from her home in Toronto so SSSC has established a work-from-home plan for her until it becomes feasible for her to relocate here. Aside from our interview in February we are happy to have Diane join our staff via Zoom weekly. Hearing from one another keeps us in touch with our vision of Indigenous and cross-cultural education.
Diane is being oriented in our long history of work in the Indigenous community all across Turtle Island and will be helping us with establishing remote learning in the light of the current and longer term measures of social distancing that is affecting schools all across Canada. We welcome a creative and dedicated heart and mind to this great work at SSSC. Thank you for supporting us in ongoing and increasing ways as were move forward and develop what the elders have gifted to us.
