Salary: $52,000 per year, plus MERCs and benefits

The Role: Cultural Coordinator
The Cultural Coordinator will create a welcoming, collaborative, and culturally grounded environment that supports healing, community engagement, and cultural revitalization. This role involves planning and delivering cultural and land-based programming, building strong partnerships with Elders and Knowledge Keepers, and supporting cultural initiatives both at the Centre and in surrounding communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain positive relationships with Elders and Knowledge Keepers.
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver cultural and land-based programs and events.
- Facilitate talking, teaching, and healing circles, with a focus on supporting families.
- Participate in ceremonies and assist with medicine harvesting in a good way.
- Promote Indigenous languages, cultural projects, and artistic initiatives.
- Collaborate with community groups, schools, churches, and social agencies.
- Provide guidance in the development of cultural protocols and agreements.
- Support public and community events (e.g., Hope and Healing in the Circle).
- Care for ceremonial tools, resources, and spaces with respect.
- Maintain records of cultural and ceremonial requests and activities.
- Assist with promotional outreach, such as conference booths and community engagement.
- Work with the Hospitality Manager to coordinate group cultural/ceremonial requests.
Qualifications
- Deep knowledge of Indigenous cultural history, teachings, storytelling, and ceremony.
- Passion for sharing traditional ways of knowing, being, and doing.
- Respect for Indigenous cultures, Christian traditions, and other spiritualities.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills.
- Class 5 driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Teams (or willingness to learn).
- Current Police Criminal Record Check & Child Abuse Registry Check (within 3 months).
Additional Information
- Reports to the Keeper of the Circle.
- Collaborates with the Cultural Committee, Hospitality Manager, and Office Admin.
- 12 business days per year supported for personal ceremony and self-healing.
