Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual Centre – Keepers of the Vision
The Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual Centre (SSSC) is seeking Indigenous leaders to join our Board of Directors, known as the Keepers of the Vision.
✨ About Us
The Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual Centre (SSSC) is a place of spirit, connection, and culture. Guided by the wisdom of Indigenous Elders, we foster teachings of respect, healing, and wholeness among all peoples and with all of creation.
Our Centre provides theological and cross-cultural training, rooted in the principle that “The Earth is Our Faculty.” We are deeply committed to the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action, and the Calls to the Church of the United Church of Canada.
Through ministry preparation, land-based learning, ceremonies, and community connections, SSSC is a leader in Indigenous approaches to healing, education, and leadership development.
✨ The Role of Board Members
As a Keeper of the Vision, you will:
- Help guide the direction of SSSC and its ministry of healing, education, and cross-cultural learning.
- Support the Centre’s vision of restoring balance and wholeness among peoples and with Creation.
- Contribute wisdom and leadership in areas such as Indigenous knowledge, education, cultural renewal, finance, and spiritual leadership development.
- Work in circle with other Keepers of the Vision, Elders, and representatives of The United Church of Canada.
✨ Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking Indigenous people from across Canada who bring:
- Commitment to Indigenous spiritual leadership and cultural renewal.
- Gifts in business, finance, education, cultural renewal, ministry, or community leadership.
- Skills and perspectives that strengthen SSSC’s long-term sustainability and growth.
- Willingness to work in a circle process of respect and consensus.
- An openness to both Indigenous and Christian spiritual traditions.
We are especially seeking members from Western Canada (Manitoba & west) to reflect our national community.
✨ Commitment
- Board members are elected for a three-year term (renewable to a maximum of six years).
- Meetings are held monthly, usually by Zoom, with at least one annual in-person gathering when possible.
- Members will be involved on a committee that supports the vision of SSSC.
- This is a volunteer role; travel and expenses are reimbursed.
