We’re Hiring: Exciting Canada-wide initiative brings new opportunities

A History of Land- and Circle-based Learning
Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual Centre is being recognized for our leading edge approach to education grounded in Indigenous ways of knowing and being.
For decades we have been gathering people to teach and learn from each other. Our approach to training leaders has been shaped by the visions of our elders, by land-based learning, ceremony, community accountability and intergenerational discussions.
New Funding Opens New Chapter
A major grant from the Lilly Foundation is enabling us to work with other schools across the United Church of Canada to share our unique strengths. Entitled “Reimagining theological education“, this project will transform the way learning about Creator and creation happens across the church.
We will continue to offer education for reconciliation through ceremonies, workshops and retreats. This funding will strengthen our ministry training to raise up Indigenous spiritual leaders. It also lays the ground work for opening up opportunities here to more learners.
Communities within and beyond the church are wrestling with what it means to work for reconciliation. We look forward to sharing our experience in raising up leaders who can show us the way. As a first step, we are expanding our team to take on this ambitious work!
Growing Our Team With Your Support
Our current Keeper of the Learning Circle, Maggie Dieter, will move into the new role of National Vision Keeper. She will connect our Ministry Program to the wider Indigenous Church, national partners, and theological institutions and foster new partnerships across the United Church, Indigenous organizations, and broader sectors such as healing and wellness.
Are you called to join our team? Can you think of someone else who would be a good fit? Please help us find the right people for the two job postings below. These roles will join Maggie to support Indigenous students and the communities they serve.
A growing team requires growing support. Stay tuned for more opportunities to support this new chapter, including volunteer roles to be announced soon.
