Giving Tuesday 2020: Tipi Time

Giving Tuesday 2020: Tipi Time

The Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual Centre is a place of spirit, offering land-based learning opportunities that draw on traditional Indigenous cultures and build bridges of reconciliation between peoples.

The tipi at our Centre might be one of the first things to catch your eye when you pull into our parking lot and step out into this sacred place. It’s a symbol that tells you you’ve arrived in an Indigenous space. It’s a place to gather in a circle and feel connected to the land. It’s a sign of welcome and that’s what we are all about.

December 1st is Giving Tuesday and on this day, we invite you to help us raise $5000 to help us replace our tipi, worn from the weather. Whether you have $10 or $200 to share, it all helps!

You’ll help keep this a space where learners can come for traditional teachings and connection to culture, where Indigenous ways of being are honoured and valued. You’ll be supporting a place where Indigenous and non-Indigenous people can find their voice and become part of the movement towards reconciliation and healing in Canada.

Have you been to our Centre and experienced the welcome here first hand? Want to help us spread the word?

Share a photo of yourself at the Centre on Facebook. Bonus points if it shows the tipi in the background! Tag it #SSSCTipiTime and tell us how you’ve felt welcome here.

“GivingTuesday is a global movement for giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Black Friday. The “Opening day of the giving season,” it’s a time when charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for favourite causes. In the same way that retailers take part in Black Friday, the giving community comes together for GivingTuesday.”
