Indigenous communities in Canada have a long positive heritage of sustainability. This course offers the opportunity to review the varying strategies and processes of development that were present before colonization; during eras of colonial dependency; and which now continue to seek liberation, promote self-determination, and work toward building-long term community capacity. This course provides students with the opportunity to interactively engage and reflect on their own context through an appreciative inquiry approaches to community development. Gaining tools in social analysis theory, students will share with one another and think critically together about how our communities function – socially, economically, culturally, and politically
