Plant Based Wellness Workshop Series: Sage Teachings – FULL

November 5, 2025 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Registration is now full. To be added to a waiting list, please email connect@sandysaulteaux.ca.

Join us for part 4 of a 4 workshop series on the four sacred medicines: tobacco, cedar, sage, and sweetgrass. These are traditional medicines that have physical qualities for medicinal purposes, and a spiritual aspect used in traditional healing and ceremonies. Each workshop begins with a time of teaching from our knowledge-keeper, Erica Lindell of Mossy Birch Homestead, followed by a skill-share activity.

On November 5 we will learn about Sage.

Sage teachings, particularly within Indigenous cultures, often relate to cleansing, purification, and spiritual well-being. It’s used in practices like smudging to remove negative energy, prepare for ceremonies, and connect with the spirit world. Sage is also seen as a protector, offering relief from internal struggles and acting as a shield against negativity, both physical and spiritual. Sage protects us from ourselves by offering relief from internal struggles. Smudging or lighting sage brings calm, which allows us to make good decisions. Sage is burned to start a meeting or discussion, or to begin your day in a good way. This is the medicine for the women.

You will learn about and have the opportunity if you wish, to learn about and participate in a smudging ceremony.

SKILL SHARE: making Fire Cider using various roots, and herbs, including sage.

These workshops are made possible from the support of IERHA’s Healthy Together Now fund. We are grateful for their support to put on workshops such as these for the community at no cost!

We invite you to make a donation, if you’re able, when you register, to help provide further programming to the community at little to no cost.
