DESCRIPTION:Resource Persons: Matthew LeBlanc (Executive Director of iEmergence: http://www.iemergence.org/about_us/staff.html) and Shaun Loney \nElder: Bernice Saulteaux \nIndigenous communities in Canada have a long positive heritage of sustainability. This course offers the opportunity to review the varying strategies and processes of development that were present before colonization; during eras of colonial dependency; and which now continue to seek liberation\, promote self-determination\, and work toward building-long term community capacity. This course provides students with the opportunity to interactively engage and reflect on their own context through an appreciative inquiry approaches to community development. DESCRIPTION:Download the Learning Circle registration form. \nResource Persons: Kelly Dvorak\, Rob Thomas & Melba Laferine\, RW Hoekstra\, Joye Platford \nElders: Herb Russell & Bernice Saulteaux (to be confirmed) \nThis course seeks to provide students with trauma informed understandings\, tools and resources to support families or individuals seeking healing from violent relationships or internalized oppression. Special attention will be given to the epidemic of gender-based violence against women and girls\, as well as against LGBTQ persons. Students will explore these realities within the life of the church\, as well as family and community systems more broadly. They will identify scriptural passages and teachings often used to promote or silently enable abusive behaviors that violate the dignity and respect of all people.
