DESCRIPTION:Gather with Indigenous and settler allies to reclaim the homegrown\, the homespoken\, the homebred\, and the homemade. \nOur week together will include hands-on learning about growing\, harvesting and preparing medicines and foods from the land. There will be time for listening\, sharing\, singing\, ceremony and sharing good food together. We will gather medicines\, work in the garden\, build a drum\, make pemmican\, sew skirts and more. \nCome root yourself in an understanding of the land as our health. Share in the spiritual teaching\, laughter\, and new learning. And most importantly\, taste the beauty of friendships formed through nurturing one another as the earth nurtures us. \n\n\nPROGRAM\nREGISTRATION\nCOST\nTRANSPORTATION & ACCOMMODATION\nCONTACT\n \n\n  \n  \n  \n  \nPROGRAM \nWe will gather every morning for ceremony and language teachings. \nParticipants will be able to move between hands-on activity stations throughout the day as they wish. We expect to make a drum\, put up a tipi\, make cheese\, smoke fish and meat\, make pemmican\, pressure can meat and beans\, silk screen\, sew ribbon skirts\, go on a medicine walk\, work in the garden\, make medicine bags\, learn about composting and more. Schedule coming soon! \nAll ages are welcome to participate in all activities. Youth and children will have opportunities to participate in some activities with their families and other times to connect with other youth and children with the guidance of our youth leaders. \nWe will share meals together three times a day. DESCRIPTION:2022 is the UN Year of Indigenous Languages. \nJoin Susie McPherson Derendy & Adrian Jacobs for a Many Nations Virtual Teachings House on the Vision of Indigenous Testamur. \nThe buried history of colonialism has been revealed in unmarked graves at Residential Schools. Recovery of Indigenous languages and cultures is our path forward. In a series of online multi-lingual conversations\, we’ll explore what community leadership training means for Indigenous communities of faith. Listen in and perhaps offer a story from your experience for the journey we’re on to say who we are and where we’re going. \nRegister below. Tickets are $25/session or $75 for the 5-part series. \nAll sessions start at 10:00 AM Central on the second last Saturday of the month. \nRegistration deadline is the Thursday before each session. Zoom links for each session will be sent to participants on the Friday before each session. Recordings of each session will be made available to ticket holders in the following week. \n\nColonialism took community control away from us and placed it in a colonial center of authority. Recovery from colonialism is our path moving forward. DESCRIPTION:It is with deep regret that SSSC has decided to cancel the Mamawe Ota Askihk in-person event this coming weekend Friday the 28th and Saturday the 29th. Due to the recent alarming spike of Covid-19 infections in Manitoba and out of an abundance of caution we do not want an event meant to promote well-being to be an occasion contributing to the pandemic. It is notable that Indigenous communities across Canada have largely been spared in this pandemic because of measures taken to protect their communities. We will do the same. \n— \n  \nGather with Indigenous and settler allies to reclaim the homegrown\, the homespoken\, the homebred\, and the homemade. \nWe are re-envisioning our annual event in light of the current health guidelines to reduce the transmission of COVID-19. \nTwo days of outdoor learning from the land and each other. Activities include hand drum making\, rattle making\, a medicine walk\, sage picking\, composting workshop\, farm tour at Ploughshares Community Farm\, clay art\, screen printing and outdoor cooking. \nCome root yourself in an understanding of the land as our health. Share in the spiritual teaching\, laughter\, and new learning. And most importantly\, taste the beauty of friendships formed through nurturing one another as the earth nurtures us. \n  \nRegistration: \nEach day’s program will begin at 9:00 am and end after supper\, around 6:30 pm. On Friday there will be an optional evening fireside sharing circle at 7:00 pm. \nSpace is limited and we are committed to having a balance of Indigenous and non-Indigenous people participate. \nIn-person participants will receive lunch\, supper and snacks. Overnight accommodations are not available on site. This will be followed by a feast of stew and bannock. After the meal there will be time to visit\, hear more stories\, ask questions\, trade and receive new seeds and learn from members of Eastman Seeds Savers who will demonstrate how to plant and save different types of seeds. \nRSVP to sansau@mymts.net / 204-268-3913 \nWhat to bring: \n1) Seeds\nIn the spirit of a “Seedy Saturday” gathering\, you are invited to bring non-GMO seeds or bulbs you’ve saved to trade with others. SUMMARY:Mamawe Ota Askihk - Sharing Life Together Here on Earth
DESCRIPTION:Gather with Indigenous and settler allies to reclaim the homegrown\, the homespoken\, the homebred\, and the homemade. \nOur week together will include hands-on learning about growing\, harvesting and preparing medicines and foods from the land. There will be time for listening\, sharing\, singing\, ceremony and sharing good food together. We will gather medicines\, work in the garden\, build drums\, make pemmican\, ferment vegetables and more. \nCome root yourself in an understanding of the land as our health. Share in the spiritual teaching\, laughter\, and new learning. And most importantly\, taste the beauty of friendships formed through nurturing one another as the earth nurtures us. \n\n\nPROGRAM\nREGISTRATION\nCOST\nTRANSPORTATION & ACCOMMODATION\nCONTACT\n  \n\n  \n  \n  \nPROGRAM \nWe will gather every morning for worship and language teachings. Participants will be able to move between hands-on activity stations throughout the day as they wish. We expect to offer drum making\, vegetable fermenting\, sourdough bread making (from wheat to loaf)\, berry picking\, sausage making\, lard rendering\, medicine gathering\, pemmican making\, grandfather rock gathering and gardening. \n\nDownload our schedule. Details subject to change! \n\nWe will share meals together three times a day. An evening fire will follow the dinner-hour for sharing stories of land and healing. \nParticipants will be invited to contribute to the week by helping in the kitchen\, leading music in worship\, sharing their experience at the different activity stations\, teaching a game or physical exercise and/or telling a story around the fire. \nReturn to top. \n  \n  \n\n  \n  \n  \n  \nREGISTRATION \nAdults and children over age 12 are welcome. Once your registration is confirmed\, we ask for a non-refundable deposit of 15% of your festival pass and accommodations. The remainder of the fees are due when you arrive at the festival. \nThese fees help us prepare for an incredible week of hands-on learning\, acquire the supplies and good food for enjoying together\, cover travel for elders and teachers and recognize the time and contributions of the festival organizers. If these fees would prevent you from coming though please talk to us!
