SUMMARY:PC4 2SLGBTQIA+ & Healthy Relationships Learning Circle & Continuing Education Opportunity
DESCRIPTION:We welcome guest learners to join our ministry students in the circle. To register\, download the registration form below and return completed form to connect@sandysaulteaux.ca. \nThis course seeks to provide students with trauma informed understandings\, tools and resources to support families or individuals seeking healing from violent relationships or internalized oppression. Special attention will be given to the epidemic of gender-based violence against women and girls\, as well as against 2SLGBTQIA+ persons. Students will explore these realities within the life of the church\, as well as family and community systems more broadly. They will examine the ways scriptural passages and Christian teachings have often been used to promote or silently enable abusive behaviors that violate the dignity and respect of all people. Theologically\, we will examine sexuality as a call to community flourishing. Collectively\, we will continue to employ an appreciative inquiry lens to reflect on what community flourishing looks like in light of the power dynamics surrounding gendered violence in our communities. \n\nRegistration Form

SUMMARY:Plant Based Wellness Workshop Series: Sage Teachings - FULL
DESCRIPTION:Registration is now full. To be added to a waiting list\, please email connect@sandysaulteaux.ca. \n  \nJoin us for part 4 of a 4 workshop series on the four sacred medicines: tobacco\, cedar\, sage\, and sweetgrass. These are traditional medicines that have physical qualities for medicinal purposes\, and a spiritual aspect used in traditional healing and ceremonies. Each workshop begins with a time of teaching from our knowledge-keeper\, Erica Lindell of Mossy Birch Homestead\, followed by a skill-share activity. \nOn November 5 we will learn about Sage. \nSage teachings\, particularly within Indigenous cultures\, often relate to cleansing\, purification\, and spiritual well-being. It’s used in practices like smudging to remove negative energy\, prepare for ceremonies\, and connect with the spirit world. Sage is also seen as a protector\, offering relief from internal struggles and acting as a shield against negativity\, both physical and spiritual. Sage protects us from ourselves by offering relief from internal struggles. Smudging or lighting sage brings calm\, which allows us to make good decisions. Sage is burned to start a meeting or discussion\, or to begin your day in a good way. This is the medicine for the women. \nYou will learn about and have the opportunity if you wish\, to learn about and participate in a smudging ceremony. \nSKILL SHARE: making Fire Cider using various roots\, and herbs\, including sage. \nThese workshops are made possible from the support of IERHA’s Healthy Together Now fund. We are grateful for their support to put on workshops such as these for the community at no cost! \nWe invite you to make a donation\, if you’re able\, when you register\, to help provide further programming to the community at little to no cost. \n  \nOther workshops in the series: \n\nAugust 6: Tobacco teachings\nSeptember 3: Sweetgrass teachings\nOctober 1: Cedar teachings

SUMMARY:Plant Based Wellness Workshop Series: Sweetgrass Teachings - FULL
DESCRIPTION:Registration is now full. To be added to a waiting list\, please email connect@sandysaulteaux.ca. \nJoin us for part 2 of a 4 workshop series on the four sacred medicines: tobacco\, cedar\, sage\, and sweetgrass. Each workshop begins with a time of teaching from our knowledge-keeper\, Erica Lindell of Mossy Birch Homestead\, followed by a skill-share activity. \nOn September 3 we will learn about Sweetgrass. \nSweetgrass\, also known as Wiingaashk\, is a sacred plant in Indigenous traditions\, particularly among the Anishinaabe\, and carries profound teachings about connection\, responsibility\, and respect for the Earth. It’s one of the four sacred medicines\, along with tobacco\, sage\, and cedar. When braided\, sweetgrass is often divided into three sections representing the Seven Generations before us\, our present journey\, and the Seven Generations to come\, embodying the interconnectedness of all being. \nSKILL SHARE: make a witch hazel\, sweetgrass and jojoba oil spray for your face or skin. \n  \nOther workshops in the series: \n\nAugust 6: Tobacco teachings\nOctober 1: Cedar teachings\nNovember 5: Sage teachings
